Vanta competitors: what buyers actually pay for each one
Published
Vanta's main competitors are Drata, Secureframe, Sprinto, Thoropass and Hyperproof. All of them automate evidence collection for SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA and similar frameworks. None publishes prices, but buyer data shows medians from about $15,000 a year (Sprinto) to $41,400 (Hyperproof), with Vanta at $20,000.
We don't resell any of these tools and we have no affiliate deal with them. Prices below are what buyers paid according to Vendr, a company that negotiates software contracts and publishes anonymized results; we checked them in October 2026, and Vendr labels them as updated in February 2026.
Side by side
| Platform | Median per year | Range paid |

| Drata | $24,934 | $9,415–68,250 |
| Secureframe | $20,000 | $7,733–32,575 |
| Sprinto | $15,000 | $13,167–16,000 |
| Thoropass | $28,464 | $1,145–52,032 |
| Hyperproof | $41,400 | $22,215–70,000 |
Who each one fits
- Vanta: Teams that want the widest integration catalog and a polished trust center.
- Drata: Teams that want to customize controls and run several frameworks from one place.
- Secureframe: Teams that want hands-on compliance experts included; has a defense (CMMC) plan.
- Sprinto: Small cloud-native startups looking for the lowest price for a first SOC 2 or ISO 27001.
- Thoropass: Companies that want software and the audit from one vendor, under one contract.
- Hyperproof: Larger companies running many frameworks and internal risk programs, not a first audit.
Medians include multi-framework and larger contracts, so a 20-person startup buying one framework will usually pay toward the low end of each range.
What all of them do
Connect to your cloud (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), identity provider, code repository and HR system; check controls continuously; collect screenshots and logs as audit evidence; give you policy templates; track employee training and background checks; and hand your auditor a portal instead of a folder of files. If a platform can't connect to one of your critical systems, that part goes back to manual work, so check the integration list against your stack before anything else.
Where they actually differ
Drata
The closest like-for-like alternative. Covers SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, GDPR, HIPAA and PCI DSS, plus DORA, FedRAMP and CMMC. Buyers moving from Vanta usually do it for custom controls or for pricing at renewal.
Secureframe
Its plans are Fundamentals, Complete and a Defense plan aimed at CMMC, with a system security plan, POA&M tracking and a managed enclave for controlled unclassified information. If you sell to the Department of Defense supply chain, it's the one to look at first.
Sprinto
Built for small, cloud-only companies. The narrow price range in Vendr's data reflects that its buyers look alike: startups doing their first SOC 2 or ISO 27001.
Thoropass
Sells the platform and the audit together. One contract and one team, which removes the hand-off between software and auditor. The trade-off: you can't shop the audit fee separately.
Hyperproof
A governance, risk and compliance platform for companies with many frameworks and an internal compliance team. Overkill for a first SOC 2; worth comparing if you're past your third audit.

Don't forget the audit
Except with Thoropass, the CPA firm's fee comes on top: roughly $12,000 to $20,000 for a small company's Type 2 audit, and more for larger scopes. The full first-year bill is broken down in SOC 2 certification cost.
How to get a lower quote
- Ask for the price of one framework. Bundles look cheap per framework and expensive in total. Buy what a customer is asking for today.
- Get two vendors to the final round. Vendr reports buyers saving about 30% on Vanta and 21% on Hyperproof against the first offer.
- Sign near the vendor's quarter end, and ask for multi-year price protection instead of a bigger first-year discount.
- Ask what the renewal will cost. Several buyers switch platforms in year two because of renewal increases; put the cap in the contract.

Questions people ask
What is the cheapest alternative to Vanta?
Among the established platforms, Sprinto is usually the cheapest. Vendr's buyer data shows a median around $15,000 a year, against $20,000 for Vanta. Thoropass can also come out cheaper overall when you buy the audit bundled with the software.
Is Drata better than Vanta?
Neither is better across the board. They cover the same core frameworks and integrations. Buyers who pick Drata often cite its control customization and auditor workflow; buyers who pick Vanta often cite its breadth of integrations and trust center. Vendr's data shows Drata's median contract slightly higher, $24,934 against $20,000.
Does Vanta include the audit?
No. Vanta, Drata, Secureframe and Sprinto sell the software; you hire and pay a CPA firm separately, often one of their partner auditors. Thoropass is the main exception, selling software and audit together.
Can I get SOC 2 without any of these tools?
Yes. The auditor doesn't require a platform. Without one you replace the software cost with consultant hours and your own team's time collecting evidence by hand, which for a first audit usually costs as much or more.
